Hey Mindy! I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know I was thinking about you all. What you are doing with the Fight On foundation is amazing. You are truly an inspirational person, and I am glad to have met you, even if for only a brief moment.I read the newspaper article from this link; it was really good! I also appreciate my loved ones WAY more than I used to b/c of you and Derrick, and I want to thank you for that.

Dear Mindy!!! Congrats on getting an article in the paper.. you truely are an amazing woman for doing all these things. You are an inspiration to many. I admire you for your strenght... if only I had it.. My husband( age 28) goes in for Open heart surgery next week... an 8 hour operation and I am soo nervous, and our belief in the Lord is strong so we pray everyday, I know the Lord will bring us through this. I just can't stay strong, I am soo nervous!
I wish you all the best in your endevours and pray God will grant you everything you need to fulfill this task.

Mindy, thanks for sharing the link to the article. What wonderful things you are doing as a tribute to your love for Derrick. He would be so proud and is no doubt smiling down on you with not one ounce of surprise at all the work you're doing to help others who have to endure what you and Derrick went through together. I still try to remember Derrick's advice to not sweat the small stuff. It's a short statement with huge meaning and such a positive impact on ones life when they live by it. I still check in because I feel like I know you after following the blog through Derrick's battle. And I care about you and am hoping and praying that you're getting along ok. I know it's hard and it will be for a long time. My heart goes out to you. But I'm glad to hear that you're turning such an unfortunate situation into an opportunity to help others.
