Weekend of Fun

On Saturday Mindy and I attended the much anticipated Golf Outing at Manor Golf course. And it was awesome, unbelievable, amazing, just a few that come to mind. 160 golfers and almost twice as many just attending the event. I would like to say Thank You again to all those who participated in this great event. As was clearly evident a lot of time and effort was spent to organize this event and our hearts go out to all of you. What a testimony to the type of people this community has. I will never forget what occurred on Saturday for the rest of my life, that day and the people there will stay in my mind forever.

I started off the afternoon by giving everyone including myself a good laugh, as I stepped on the first tee box to hit the ceremonial shot along with Sonny Summers. In front of about 200 people and not having swung a club in about a year I was a little nervous. As I pulled into my back swing though everything came back to me and I was thinking "I wonder if I can drive this green" as I followed through, to my surprise I had swung so hard the ball burst from its shell and exploded into smoke. I got punk'd. I don't know if you could have planned a better start to a fun filled day.

Sunday Mindy, Dad, Mom and I went to church and then just hung around the rest of the day by the pool. Some friends stopped by and we tossed bean bags and swam in the pool, and watched Caddy Shack all day. (Well they swam and I watched and tossed football passes to them off the dive.)

On a serious note, as far as my condition and transplant goes, I am now scheduled to go to NYC on July 14th to have my transplant. I may have to go to NYC tomorrow to meet with some doctors about my pneumonia. I don't really have pneumonia per say but I had it and now there are still some residual nodes in my lungs we are trying to clear up before my transplant.

Thanks again to all those who made this weekend so special for Mindy, myself, and my whole family.

Please continue to pray that I remain in remission until my transplant and that my lungs heal up.

God, thank you for the promise of springtime in my life. I will wait patiently through the difficult seasons and hope earnestly in your faithfulness. Amen
