Day +2

Today was a little better day for Derrick, since he had some relief from the hiccups. He had them on and off throughout the day but not consistently. Last night he was given some pain medicine and sleeping medicine to help him sleep through the night. As a result, he was a little "out of it" this morning, and slept the majority of the day. When he first woke up this morning, he did ride the stationary bike for about 5 minutes just to keep his legs moving. His GI tract is still very irritated. The doctor said this could last at least 14 more days until his white blood cells rebuild. So until his counts recover we are just in the holding pattern. He started TPN tonight which basically is his nutrition through IV. This is done since he is unable to eat anything. It provides him with all the neccessary nutrients. Please keep praying he will remain infection free, his counts will recover quickly, and the new cells will graft, as the next few weeks will be difficult for Derrick. Thanks for all the cards we are receiving, and the messages on the blog.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord... plans to give you hope and a future...You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

Hello Dull family, this is Laura Buckwalter (Ross's older sister). I'm so glad to hear that Derrick is doing okay. I noticed that his blood type is A+ and so is mine! Does he need blood or plasma donors? Please contact me if I can help: lauradogluvr@yahoo.com. Derrick, fight on! You're in my prayers!
