Day +5

Today was a sleepy but pretty good day for Derrick. The doctor said that he was so tired as a result of after effects of the chemotherapy. I guess certain side effects happen later than others. He is still having difficulty eating and drinking, especially since his throat got pretty sore today. We were told this is another chemo side effect. He was given mild doses of pain medicine to help with this. In between naps he was able to ride the stationary bike for a little today. He also was treated to another foot massage by the Integrative Medicine staff here at the hospital. There is nothing new right now, we are basically just waiting for Derrick's stem cells to engraft. Today marked two weeks since Derrick was admitted to the hospital. Tomorrow should hopefully be another low key day for Derrick, so he can continue resting. On Wednesday he is scheduled to start Neupogen shots which are given to bolster his immune system and blood counts. The shot doesn't usually take effect until at least three days after the initial shot. Thanks again for your continuous support and prayers!

Trusting God completely means having faith that He knows what is best for your life. You expect him to keep his promises, help you with problems, and do the impossible when necessary.
