Today was another good day for Derrick. His body is continuing to respond to the chemotherapy in a positive way and he has not gotten sick (other than some nausea) from it. He is getting some good sleep and his appetite is slowly returning. Jim "the hulk" managed to remove the foot board from Derrick's bed so he could stretch his legs and be more comfortable. We took some pictures of the feat and will share them with you when we get a chance. Derrick has also been exercising his mind..........beginning yesterday we starting having Sudoku challenges amongst ourselves. Derrick took the gold medal tonight but Jim, Mindy and I are anxious to dethrone him tomorrow. Derrick continues to be overwhelmed by the continuing support coming in via email, phone messages, blog entries and cards. Thank you all for the love and support you are sending our way.

Derrick, you continue to be in our thoughts & prayers. It's hard to believe that less than a month ago you guys were off on your snowboarding adventure. At the time, it was Nick who wound up with his arm in a sling! Who would have guessed that just two weeks later, you would be admitted to Hershey Medical. What an ironic twist of fate. It goes to show we never know what life will throw our way. But with the love & support of friends and family, and of course our faith, we can get through anything.
Glad to hear you are holding up well with the chemo. It can't be easy, but you're a fighter! Always visualize the positive outcome that you want! Have you read the book, The Secret? If not, I'll loan you my copy....it teaches you to always visualize the positive and good will come back to you!

Derrick! It is so good to hear you are responding well to chemo! Matty and I have been keeping track of you daily. He wants so badly to visit but I got him sick from being sick last week (whoops). Hope those nurses are treating you well or I'll have to come up there and demonstrate my fabulous nursing skills. :) Just flash them those pearly whites and I'm sure you'll win their hearts, your smile is contagious. Keep your head up, keep fighting and KEEP SMILING! "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!"

Hey Derrick!I just wanted to say I'm so happy to hear that you are doing so well with Chemo! I know I haven't talked to you much since high school, but I continue to think about you everyday and pray for you during these hard times.
To Derricks Parents and family...thank you so much for putting this blog together. So many people, more than you could imagine, have been talking and asking about Derrick, and it’s great to know what’s going on through this blog.
And to Mindy...I have never met you before, but I think it’s absolutely amazing how you are by his side every step of the way...he’s so lucky to have someone like you. All of you continue to be in my prayers <3

It's very encouraging to hear how well you're responding to the chemo! For as strong as i know you are, this must be a very trying experience for you to be going through. But that is what it is, an experience. You will grow from this in more ways than you could imagine at this point. You have an ever growing support group around you, and you are constantly in all of our thoughts and prayers. And i hope that helps you get through the emotional part of this, and helps you to never give up, no matter how hard it gets. I've never met mindy, but she seems like a remarkable person. You are so lucky to have her by your side along with your incredible family. Never doubt their love. You are an incredible person, Derrick. You have always been a good frend and a very positive person to know. thank you for that. Keep smiling my friend, there is always a light at the end of the darkest tunnels. I love you, kid!

Derrick, Linz gave me this website. Never posted a blog before! I just wanted you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Linz made a comment to me that "Derrick always had a good attitude" and a good attitude will help pull you through this storm in your life. That and prayers and the love of your family and friends.
