No setbacks, slight improvement

Saturday was an ok day for Derrick. He continued to run a fever but the highs didn't last as long and he had longer periods of time where he had some energy and felt half descent. They changed his antibiotic to one from another family of antibiotics because the one he was on had a side effect of possibly causing fever. He received his first found of the new antibiotic last evening. We are hoping the switch will stop the fevers which are causing him to feel so badly. He did have a little more of an appetite and enjoyed some homemade shepherd's pie which was great comfort food. Derrick was moved back to the cancer wing yesterday, which is a good thing. He can take laps around the nurses station and get some exercise all the while impressing the nurses with his spirit and humor.

derrick so gald to hear the good news about your bone marrow, also to hear about the shepherds pie. that was my favorite meal of any that i had while getting chemo, so much so that when your mom ask if there was anything else i needed i ask for another shepherds pie. it just occured to me now that there is another shepherd that is bringing you comfort at this time, continue to allow him to lead you thru this hard time. luv reg

Derrick, we're so thankful for the good news about the bone marrow biopsy! You're winning the battle, one small victory at a time. Keep fighting.

Mindy, you're doing a great job of supporting Derrick and are a testiment to the true meaning of love...being there for someone through the good times and the bad.

Jim & Donna, take care of yourselves too. Derrick needs you more now than ever. Don't neglect your own health, which I know is tough to do when your thoughts are on him every waking minute of the day.

Your family continues to be in our prayers! And thanks for the blog postings. It means so much to be able to follow Derrick's journey and also know that we are getting accurate information & updates.

God bless & comfort you!

Hey Derrick!

Shepherd's pie is great comfort food. In spite of what Craig says, I really can cook! I'll find out some of your other favorite comfort food and make it for you.

Much love and prayers to you, Mindy and your whole family!
