l.i.v.e.s.t.r.o.n.g

Kelly Holst and I arrived at the hospital yesterday around noon and when we walked into the room, my brother was just waking up. Friday night was the best night of sleep he's had so far, so he must have been anticipating a long day of goofing around with his sister! He even took a good nap during the afternoon. He had many visitors once again, including Colin, one of this close friends from high school who made quite a trip to come and be with Derrick. We got to watch some good college basketball games and are looking forward to the Super Bowl tonight. Derrick can now get up and out of his room and take some laps around the floor, so its good to see him moving around. Mindy is by far his favorite nurse, and she is definetly my favorite too. I will be a lot more comfortable when I go back to school on Monday knowing that she is by my brother's side all day long. Derrick's body is still responding well to treatment and his positive attitude amazes everybody who walks into the room. Thanks for all the prayers. I always tell people Derrick is in a battle right now and he has an army of friends and family behind him, but he is on the front line doing the fighting. I've seen my brother overcome obstacles my whole life and this is just another opportunity for him to inspire people.

Amen to what Marcy wrote. "Look not uopn the things which are seen, but the things which are unseen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are unseen are eternal."( 2 Corinthians 4:18). There is a whole army or people praying for you to give you and your family strength and comfort. FEEL THE POWER!!!!!!!

Derrick seemed in really good spirits today. Today was the first day since the news broke that I was able to see and talk to him. Bowie is very impressed about how he is holding up. The next few weeks will be hard and Derrick's got the will to win this horrific battle, but it's going to take everyone surrounding him to help get him through. This is totally beatable and knowing Derrick as we all do, he's got things to do, people to see, and places to go and isn't going to let this hold him down at all. I saw that today in my visit with him.
