Fever

Derrick's first full day back in the hospital continued to be a struggle for him to rid himself of his fever. He had intermittent fevers throughout the day which caused him to feel pretty crappy. Last evening he was given some medication (other than Tylenol) which seemed to help with his chills. The doctors have not found a reason for the fever, such as infection, which is good news. They told us sometimes patients just get them after chemotherapy for no apparent reason. We are hoping today brings a day free of fever. If that is the case, most likely Derrick will be discharged tomorrow.

Hey Derrick - I always said you were "hot"! Just wanted you guys to know we're all thinking about you and praying for you...including Pap. Could you please post some more pictures without your shirt? I would like to creat a slide show for my screensaver. Try to keep Mindy to the right of you so I can easily crop her out.
Thanks!
Biggie

Hope is the thing with feathers-
that perches in the soul-
and sings the tune without words-
and never stops-at all

I love you and I'm thinking of you.

Keep your head up, bud!! I keep trying to think of these magical words to lift you up and make all this go away, but I just when I started to think they didn't exist, I realized that sounds like a pretty good definition of prayer. So, I will continue to pray for you and your incredible family and girlfriend. Love you!

Hi Derrick, Mindy, friends, and family,
We just went through a cancer situation with one of our closest friends. He is now recovering, but I wanted to let you know something our pastor said to us that has really helped. "Without pain, there is no growth." This is God's greatest tool in life. People don't understand why a God would allow such pain, but it's true. I am glad to hear that you have a strong faith. God is the only one who can pull you all through this. Our friend's faith has not only helped him, but it has been amazing to everyone around him...what a testimony! God has a plan. Trust Him with this. In the meantime, we will be praying for you daily.

It's def. a bummer that you had to go back into the hospital, but then again things never can be ordinary and calm with you; you always need a little excitement. Whether it be busting your thumb on one of our first snowboarding trips, the wheel falling off your car right in front of a police officer after we left the mall, or you dropping an elbow on crowther and busting his head open while we played ball. On a side note, I'd like to thank Lenny for pointing out that I cant spell my last name and that Ryan still needs to use spell check. I think this is emphasizes the fact that we did not receive a good education at Ephrata since they were unable to employ anyone capable of teaching the fundamentals
