Today we started the day off with some Applebees-to-go at the hospital. Derrick ate a steak, mashed potatoes, and some broccoli, and we cheered the Ohio men's basketball team on to victory on espn2. He seems to be feeling alot better today, he has a lot more energy and is moving around just fine. We've been challenging each other to some handheld yahtzee games all afternoon and so far, he has the magic touch. Derrick was able to get a shower and shave the beard he was starting to grow, so he's ready for a big night out on the town in Hershey Medical Center. Today was another fever-free day and his counts are all still getting better each day, he's quite the fighter. Its a blessing to be able to come home for a weekend and enjoy time with family even though Derrick is dealing with some tough circumstances. He is an inspiration to me everyday because he wakes up with a smile on his face and is ready to take on whatever the day will bring. When I'm out in Ohio, I talk to him every day and he just helps me realize how far a positive attitude can truly go. As always, its been amazing to see all our friends and family pull together and help Derrick in this battle. Thanks for all your thoughts, gifts, and most importantly, prayers. God is at work with Derrick every day and it is awesome to see.

it's awesome that things are going so well, and it's awesome that Marcy got to come home and visit, because i'm sure Derrick misses his sister... hope the rest of your day is great

What a surprise for a wintery weekend! It was good to see Marcy this weekend and it looks like it helped everyone feel just a little better. Keep up the fight Derrick and you'll be home soon.
